I was having a discussion with a co-worker and we got to talking about addictions; as paramedics, we see a lot of people who have a lot of problems in life. The average person may know a few of their co-workers problems (bum ticker, likes to gamble, etc.) But for me, that is my everyday life- each patient I come in contact with has a problem, and while most have health issues beyond their control- a few have them from their own doing. This leads me to my main point: aren't we all addicted to something on some level?
When I said "addicted", did some of you think- "Addicted? That's weird, it's not like I'm a drug addict!"
And you're right, but here's the thing- we associate "addiction" with a negative connotation. To be addicted is to subdue your own free will and control to something, right? But, I do not believe that addiction is so bad. In here, I would venture a guess that most of us are addicted to PE'ing- and that is a great thing! Most of the time being addicted is not actually a bad thing, it's not like you're addicted to drugs, right?!?
Whether it be for personal satisfaction, a better sex life, to impress your buddies in the locker room- doing PE is addicting, at least to me. I wake up and think, "Can't wait to do my PE!" So go on all you addicts, take heed knowing you are not alone!
